About California Proposition 65
In 1986, California passed legislation called the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 that entitles its residents and consumers to receive special notifications about products known by the state to contain chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm if the exposure to them is above specific thresholds, so that they can make informed decisions about using them in their home or work environments. Today this legislation is commonly known as Proposition 65.
The warning labels read, “WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
In the United States, manufactures are required to inform California residents about any chemicals not only in our tape, but also in our packaging, that contain these chemicals. We sent product samples and packaging to be tested and it was determined that Kinesio’s packaging, not our tape, does contain chemical(s) at or above the threshold that require us to properly label our products in order to sell into the state of California in the United States.
It is our mission is to help your customers make informed decisions about their health and wellness. You can learn more about Prop 65 at https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65
